FOUR CLARK BASKETBALL PLAYERS HONORED BY WACBA

Four Clark University basketball players were honored by the Worcester Area College Basketball Association (WACBA), it was announced on Wednesday. Jillian Camilleri was named women’s basketball Rookie of the Week, while teammate Sarah Roderigue was selected to the honor roll. Men’s basketball players Mark Alexander and Matt McLaughlin earned honor roll and rookie honor roll accolades, respectively. Camilleri, from Lancaster, Mass., notched 12 points and nine rebounds in a 57-48 non-conference victory over Johnson and Wales University last week. The first-year forward shot 6-of-8 (75 %) from the field, blocked a pair of shots and tallied a steal and an assist in the win. Roderigue, a sophomore forward from Oakland, Me., poured in a game-high 15 points in the victory. A native of Providence, R.I., Alexander, a first-year forward, scored a team-high 13 points and grabbed five boards in an 82-62 non-conference road victory at Becker College last Tuesday. McLaughlin scored 11 points, including 4-6 (.667 %) from the free throw line, in the game. The freshman point guard from Rochester, Mass., had three rebounds, three assists, and three steals on the way to the rookie recognition. WILSON SELECTED TO PLAY IN NEWISA SENIOR BOWL

Clark University’s Amy Wilson has been selected to play in the 2006 New England Intercollegiate Soccer Association (NEWISA) Senior Bowl held at Merrimack College in North Andover, Mass., on Sunday (Noon).

Wilson, a native of Wilbraham, Mass., was the backbone of the Cougar defense this season. The senior tri-captain acted as one of the last lines of defense, clearing balls and making team saves in the clutch. Her defensive pressure helped Clark secure a pair of shutouts this fall and her offensive contribution with an assist helped secure a conference victory over Coast Guard. Wilson capped her career with her first NEWMAC All-Conference second-team selection.

The NEWISA Soccer Bowl will consist of players from Division I, II, and III.
