2007 SEASON RECAP
The 2007 Clark University men’s tennis team was 3-7 overall and 1-4 in NEWMAC play. The Cougars captured its first win of the season with a 6-3 victory over Rhode Island College and later won two straight against Emerson College (8-1) and Coast Guard Academy (7-2) – its lone conference win of the season – before heading into the NEWMAC Tournament. Seeded-fifth, Clark was ousted by fourth-seed Babson College (5-0) to conclude its season.
Sophomore Ben Gross paced the Cougars in singles play with a 3-7 record. The Newton, Mass. native, posted a pair of victories at the number two spot against Emerson and a win at number three versus RIC. Other highlights included sophomore Adam Bisceglia’s “W” at top singles in a hard-fought super-breaker set at RIC and a number one singles win by first-year Charlie Sherman against Western New England College.
In doubles play, three Cougar pairs captured wins over their Emerson and Coast Guard counterparts. Senior Brian Brown and Bisceglia prevailed at top-doubles; sophomores Rocci Li and Socheata Ly won at number two and sophomore Ben Voynick and Gross triumphed in the third slot.
Voynick represented the men’s tennis team on the NEWMAC All-Academic squad.

CAHOON NAMED HEAD MEN'S TENNIS COACH
Mickey Cahoon has been named the Clark University head men’s tennis coach, it was announced on Wednesday by Athletic Director Linda Moulton. Cahoon takes over the men’s tennis program for Jim Hayes, who has served as part-time coach for a combined nine years and directed both the men’s and women’s programs this past season. Hayes will continue to lead the women’s tennis team.
“Jim has gone above and beyond throughout his tenure,” said Moulton. “In addition to a full-time job, he stepped in and oversaw both tennis teams last season. We are delighted to have the opportunity to lessen his load.”
"I am looking forward to spending more quality time on the women's traditional and non-traditional seasons,” said Hayes. “Coaching just one program will give me the chance to commit more time to recruiting efforts.”
Cahoon will also head the Clark women's volleyball program.
