NEWMAC Tournament: #3 Babson Knocks Off #6 Men's Tennis

BABSON PARK, Mass.  Third-seeded Babson College used a doubles sweep and three quick singles wins to claim a 6-0 win over sixth-seeded Clark University in the opening round of the 2008 New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Men's Tennis Tournament at Babson's Farwell Courts on Thursday afternoon.

With the win, the Beavers (10-10) advanced to Saturday's semifinal round, where they will take on second-seeded Springfield at 10:30 a.m. at Connecticut College. The winner of that contest will advance to the championship match, which will take place later that afternoon at the host U.S. Coast Guard Academy. Meanwhile, Clark (4-10) saw its season come to a close.
