Women's Tennis Picks Up First Win of the Season

WORCESTER, MASS. 9/16/08 - The Clark University women's tennis team earned its first victory of the season with a 9-0 sweep of Mitchell College at Corash Tennis Courts on Tuesday afternoon. The Cougars improve to 1-3 on the young season, while Mitchell falls to 1-1.

Junior Phoebe Livingston and senior Rebecca Good cruised to an 8-0 victory at number two, while first-year Jenni Adams and sophomore Atulya Chaganty posted an 8-3 decision in the third slot. It was the first victory of the season for Adams and Chaganty.

Good did not allow a point in her 6-0, 6-0 victory at number four singles. Sophomore Emily Schweitzer picked up a 6-1, 6-0 win in the top spot; Livingston prevailed at three, 6-1, 6-0; Adams won 6-0, 6-1 at five, and Chaganty claimed a 6-2, 6-1 win at number six.

Clark will host Wellesley College on Saturday (1 p.m.).
