Women's Tennis Falls to Smith College
WORCESTER, MASS. 10/14/08 - The Smith College women's tennis team posted an 8-1 New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) victory over host Clark University on Tuesday afternoon at Corash Tennis Courts. With the victory, Smith improved to 2-5 (2-5 NEWMAC). Clark fell to 3-9 overall and 0-7 in league play.
Smith started the day with a 3-0 lead after sweeping doubles play.
First-year Julia Bergeron was the lone winner for Clark. She prevailed 6-3, 6-1 over Smith's Gianna Teague in No. 2 singles. It was her team-best six victory of the season.
Clark will travel to Becker College for a non-conference match next Thursday (3 p.m.).
