Women's Tennis Drops Second Straight 8-1 Decision
Worcester, Mass. - The visiting Simmons College Sharks took all three doubles matches en route to a decisive 8-1 win over the host Clark University women's tennis team on Thursday evening.
Alexa Ebert and Julia Bergeron combined to give the Sharks their toughest doubles match of the day, falling 8-6 to freshman Sabrina Salmela and junior Malie Macleod.
Emily Schweitzer and Phoebe Livingston dropped their match at No. 2, 8-4 to Maggie Taylor and Jordan Borash.
Ebert fell at No. 1 singles to Salmela, 6-2, 6-3 and Schweitzer also dropped a straight set decision, this one to Katy Hallinan, 6-0, 6-1.
Clark's lone victory of the day came courtesy of Bergeron, who lost the first set, 6-1. She then took the second set 6-2 before dropping Macleod 10-4 in the third set tiebreaker.
The Cougars, now 0-2 on the season, travel to Becker on Saturday for a meeting with the Hawks beginning at 1 p.m.
