Boston, Mass. - The Emmanuel College Women's Tennis Team defeated Clark University, 7-2, on Tuesday night in non-conference action played at the Winsor School.
The Saints took all but one match in both singles and doubles competition to come away with the win. Emmanuel is now 2-1 overall, while Clark dropped to 1-4 on the season.

The Saints pulled out wins at second and third doubles to start off the match. The junior tandem of Taylor Kelly (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) and Brianna Murphy (Wilbraham, Mass.) notched a hard-fought 8-6 win at second doubles. Freshman Emily Resnevic (Manville, R.I.) teamed up with junior Catherine Dunphy (Duxbury, Mass.) for an easy 8-1 at third doubles. Emmanuel headed into singles competition with a 2-1 lead in the match.

Emmanuel's freshman Taylor Dey (Woodbridge, Conn.) won in straight sets at first singles for the third-straight match in her collegiate career. Dey, who was recently selected the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week, defeated Alexa Ebert of Clark University, 6-1 and 6-2 for the first singles win of the night. Senior captain Nory Hayes (Newport, R.I.) came up with a big win at second singles, 6-3, 2-6, 6-4, and scoring the Saints' fourth point of the night.

Freshman Jenna Reid (Lincoln, R.I.) won easily at third singles, 6-1, 6-0. Junior Alexandra Shakra (Bedford, N.H.) edged Clark freshman Kristin Cullity (Carver, Mass.), 7-5, 2-6, 6-3, for a win at fourth singles. Dunphy was a winner in fifth singles, 6-4, 6-2.

Clark's points came via wins at 6th singles with Silvia Jakubski (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) taking her match 6-3, 6-7, 6-1 and the 1st doubles tandem of Alexa Ebert (Westborough, Mass.) and Andrea Nathan (Saddle River, N.J.) collecting an 8-5 win.

The Cougars will look to return to the win column on Thursday when they host Rhode Island College.
