About the Program
Head coach Mickey Cahoon begins his second season with the Clark University men’s tennis team. With a philosophy to pursue excellence – on the court, in the classroom and community – Coach Cahoon has set high expectations for the Cougar squad. “We will follow our goals through a disciplined work ethic, an enthusiastic approach toward learning, and above all else, committed teamwork.”
The men’s traditional season takes place in the spring. The competitive schedule includes dual matches with every team in the conference, additional matches with local and regional opponents, and a conference tournament at the end of the season. Players also participate in a nontraditional fall season with a limited schedule against local opponents. At home, the team competes on the award-winning Corash Tennis Courts, six newly renovated, lighted courts used for intercollegiate matches and practices, recreational play and special tournaments. The team also uses the Dolan Field House for indoor practice courts.
The 2008 campaign brought about a new look for the Cougars. The squad had a substantial first-year class, coupled with a group of returnees. An increase in numbers and competitiveness led Clark to one more win than the previous season.
Welcoming back a handful of veterans in 2009, the Cougars anticipate a promising season.
Recent Highlights
• Socheata Ly ’09 paced the Cougars with seven singles victories.
• Four players each held three-match win streaks throughout the year.
• Tridib Choudhury ’09 and Socheata Ly ’09 were recognized as Clark scholar-athletes.
• Ben Gross ‘09 and Matt Finley ‘11 led the team with five doubles victories apiece.
