2006

After earning its third straight New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) tournament berth, the seventh-seed Clark University women’s soccer team concluded its season with a hard-fought 2-1 overtime loss to second-seed Springfield College in quarterfinal round action. The Cougars ended the year 4-12-1 overall and 2-6-1 in league play.

Facing a daunting non-conference schedule and NEWMAC slate, the Clark squad held its own against five NCAA tournament teams and a pair of perennial New England contenders this season. The Cougars went 1-4 after facing three of the five NCAA teams, including a trip to the Oneonta State College Mayor’s Cup Tournament, to start the year.

Highlights for Clark included, an impressive 3-2 victory over regional powerhouse Keene State College, where junior midfielder Amanda Ramos notched a hat-trick, including the game-winner with 56 seconds left to play, decisive NEWMAC wins over cross-town rival WPI (4-0) and Coast Guard Academy (4-1), and a 1-1 double-overtime tie against Mount Holyoke College.

Ramos and senior defender Amy Wilson saw their first appearance on the NEWMAC All-Conference second team. Ramos, who earned NEWMAC Player of the Week honors earlier in the season, led the Cougar offense with a career-high 21 points on 10 goals and an assist. She also ranked second in the conference in goals per game (0.59) and tied for fourth in goals (10). Wilson, a tri-captain, anchored Clark’s defense in all 17 games and chipped in offensively with a key assist in a victory over Coast Guard. Wilson was also selected to play in the New England Women’s Intercollegiate Soccer Association (NEWISA) Senior Bowl.

Senior Sheri Brick and sophomore Kari Mruz represented the women’s soccer squad on the NEWMAC Academic All-Conference team.

2005

Under the direction of head coach Joe Brady (5th year) the women's soccer team finished the 2005 season 12-8-1 and reached the ECAC finals for the first time in the program’s history. The Cougars lost to Keene State 2-1 in an exciting final game of the season. Trailing 2-0 at halftime, senior captain Jess Blatt (Holden, MA/Wachusett Regional) scored with 18 minutes remaining but Keene State’s goalkeeper made sure that would be all the Cougars would get en route to the title. Clark defeated Wentworth 1-0 in the quarterfinals and avenged a 3-0 loss to Brandeis University early in the season with a 3-2 win in the ECAC semifinals to reach the championship game. The 12 wins are the most since 1999 and Clark’s third-place finish in the conference is the best since 1999. The Cougars reached the NEWMAC semifinals for the second straight year and fell 2-0 to second seed and eventual NEWMAC Champion Springfield College. In the NEWMAC Quarterfinals, sophomore forward Liz Adamcik (Florence, MA/Northampton) scored the winning goal with two minutes left to lead the Cougars to the conference semifinals. With the victory head coach Joe Brady recorded his 100th career win.

After returning from a 5-day trip to Atlanta, Georgia where the Cougars defeated Oglethorpe (1-0 (OT) and fell to nationally ranked Emory University (4-0), the Cougars ran off six straight wins. During the streak Clark won four straight games 1-0. The Cougars finished the season with nine shutouts and a 1.36 goals against average.

Junior midfielder Lindsay Sylvester (W. Hartford, CT/Conard) was named to the NSCAA and NEWISA All-New England Third Team and the NEWMAC All-Conference First Team. Sylvester was second on the team with three goals and led the team with five assists. She ranked ninth in the league in assists. She had one game-winning goal, the lone goal in a big 1-0 win over Keene State College. Adamcik was named to the all-conference second team for the second consecutive year. Adamcik led the team with 11 goals including a team-high three game-winning goals. She scored the game-winner in the season opener, a 1-0 win over Oglethorpe University (GA), the lone goal in a 1-0 win over conference opponent Mount Holyoke and the game-winner in a 1-0 victory against Wellesley College in the conference tournament quarterfinals. She was fourth in the league in goals and sixth in points.

2004

The women’s soccer team finished the season with their best record, 9- 8-1, since 2000 and qualified for the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) tournament for the first time since 2000 under fourth-year head coach Joe Brady. The 2004 season campaign started for the Cougars on the newly renovated natural grass Granger Field with a 3-1 win over Anna Maria College. Ranked among the top ten teams in New England for three consecutive weeks, the Cougars recorded some exciting wins during the year. Clark defeated competitive Western Connecticut State University (2004 ECAC Champion), 2-1, and cross-town rival and NCAA tournament participant, Worcester State, 3-0. The Cougars reached the NEWMAC Tournament semifinals and tied the number three seed Smith College 0-0, failing to advance after losing in penalty kicks 4-3. First-year forward Liz Adamcik was named to the NEWMAC All-Conference Second Team. Adamcik led the Cougars with nine goals and ranked sixth in the league in goals. She scored in six straight conference games including two goals in a 3-2 overtime loss to Springfield College. In addition, she scored the game-winner in Clark’s 1-0 win over Wellesley College and with the victory the Cougars qualified for the NEWMAC tournament for the first time since 2000. In only her second collegiate soccer game she scored her first goal of her career in a 1-0 win over Hartwick.

2003

The Cougars finished the 2003 season 7-10-0, winning four more games than the 2002 campaign. The Cougars started the season 3-0 while not allowing a goal during the three games. The Cougars lost four straight games to regionally ranked teams all by the score of 1-0.

2002

First-year goalkeeper Rebecca Dezan was named to the 2002 NEWMAC All-Conference Second Team. In 17 games she compiled a 2.41 goals against average and made 169 saves. She allowed one goal five times and two goals five times during the season. Dezan recorded her first collegiate shutout against Anna Maria College.

2001

In 2001 senior forward tri-captain Katie Brothers (Dudley,MA/Shepherd Hill Regional High School) was named to the NEWMAC All-Conference Team for the fourth straight year. Her six goals and seven assists bring her career totals to 33 goals and 39 assists. With 105 points she is ranked first on Clark’s all-time scoring list. She also holds both the season (16) and career (39) assist records. She was also named to the NSCAA All-America New England Region Third Team, the NEWISA All-New England First team and the NEWISA Senior All-Star Team.

2000

Katie Brothers '02 and Amanda Duval '04 were named to the 2000 NEWMAC All-Conference Team. Brothers is ranked third among Clark's all-time leading scorers with 86 points. She holds school records for assists in a season (16, 1999) and career assists (32). Goalkeeper Alyson Parrish '01 holds the season (11) and career (26.5) shutout records.

1999

The 1999 team posted a 12-6-2 record and earned a post-season bid to the ECAC Tournament. Katie Brothers '02 received numerous honors including selection to the NSCAA Regional All-America Second Team, the NEWISA First Team, and the NEWMAC All-Conference Team. Cindi Alfano '01 was named to the NEWISA Second Team and the All-NEWMAC Team.

1998

The 1998 team went undefeated in the regular season (16-0-1) and topped the Clark record for season wins with 17 and set a new record with 12 shutouts. The Cougars were ranked number one in New England all season and finished the season ranked seventh in the country. Their post-season bid to the NCAA Tournament was a first for the Clark women's soccer program.

Charlene Jankowski '99 received a host of individual honors including selection to the national All-America Third Team. Jankowski, a three time all-conference player, graduated as Clark's All-Time leading scorer with 39 goals, 19 assists, and 97 points. In addition to Jankowski, Katie Brothers '02, Kamilla Gusdall '01, Jenny Forsberg '02 and Alyson Parrish earned regional All-America honors. Coach Andy Schechter was honored as the NEWISA and NSCAA/Addidas Coach of the Year.

1997

The 1997 team proved to be one of the best teams in the region with a ranking as high as fourth in New England. Two players, midfielder Ylfa Perry '98 and striker Charlene Jankowski '99, were named to the regional All-America Team, the All-New England Team, and the New 8 All- Conference Team.

1996

Clark was selected for the 1996 ECAC New England Tournament for the second straight year and was ranked as high in the region as fourth of 64 teams. Two players (Co-Captains Sarah Gianfriddo '97 and Jennifer Russo '97) earned regional All-America and All-New England Team honors.

1995

The 1995 season was a tremendously successful one as the Cougars earned several team honors. In their first season of NEW 8 Conference play, the Cougars went undefeated (6-0-1) in regular season NEW 8 play. Clark, ranked as high as fifth in New England, was selected to the ECAC New England Tournament and finished with an overall 12-5-2 record, including a school record 12 shutouts.

1993

In 1993, the Cougars defeated nationally-ranked Williams College, 1-0. Two freshmen played key roles: Priya Costa '97 scored the game-winning goal, and Jennifer Russo '97 earned the shutout in goal, turning back eight shots.

Priya Costa '97 was selected to the 1993 All-New England First Team and regional All-America First Team, the only freshman selected for the honor that year.
