Community Engagement Faculty Study Group
The Community Engagement Faculty Study Group, started in 2007 with funding from a Learn and Serve sub-grant from Rhode Island and Massachusetts Campus Compact, is organized by the CEV Center under the guidance of Mary-Ellen Boyle, Interim Associate Dean of the College and faculty member in the Graduate School of Management. The Study Group includes participants from various disciplines that utilize community-based learning or research in their courses, or are interested in doing so. The Study Group is open to all faculty members at Clark. Participants attend as their schedules allow and engage in conversations about teaching community-based courses and further promoting education on the Clark campus.
The readings are a mix of theoretical and practical, from sections of Paulo Freire’s Pedagogy of the Oppressed to selections on incorporating reflection in the classroom. The CEV Center also manages a Cicada forum for the Study Group that provides a complete list of past and current readings.
