The study of biology is central to understanding the world around us. The Department of Biology provides these tools by offering undergraduate and graduate programs in which research is central. Research themes are woven throughout the curriculum, culminating in cutting-edge projects in advanced, often inter-disciplinary courses and faculty laboratories. The Department's liberal arts curriculum and "Learn through Inquiry" approach provide biology students as well as students from other majors with the skills to embark on careers in biology and related fields.
