The Center for Risk and Security (CRS)

The Center for Risk and Security (CRS) at the George Perkins Marsh Institute conducts in-depth studies of homeland security issues using a risk and decision analysis perspective. The Center's broad range of security issues includes: terrorism; disaster and hazards management; law and human rights; resource allocation; critical infrastructure; social dimensions of risk; and international trade security.

CRS's purpose is to adapt and develop risk and decision methods for analyzing security issues, conduct critical reviews of plans for addressing such issues, and assist private and governmental entities in planning and policy development.

HBO Airs the Nuclear Threat Initiative's Film Last Best Chance (October 17, 2005)
The Nuclear Threat Initiative (NTI), with support from the Carnegie Corporation of New York and the MacArthur Foundation, made the short film Last Best Chance as a way to build increased awareness of the threat of nuclear terrorism in the U.S. Set in the near future, it takes the form of a slick international suspense thriller that lays out a frighteningly plausible narrative of how terrorists might buy or steal the makings of a nuclear bomb, assemble one, smuggle it halfway around the world, and send it on its way to an American city in an SUV.

HBO will begin airing NIT's film on October 17 at 8 pm. It will replay on HBO on October 23 at 10:00 am, and air on HBO2 on October 19 at 10 pm, October 27 at 11 pm and October 30 at 10:15 pm.
