Faculty Biography

Serena S. Hilsinger, Professor Emerita of English.  B.A., Douglass College, 1959.  Ph.D., University of Connecticut, 1964.

During my decades of teaching at Clark, my primary areas of interest were modernist fiction and fiction by women writers.  During those years I published three novels.  Retirement to my home on the coast of Massachusetts has given me the freedom to read and write whatever I wish, without regard to trends or expectations.  I am currently writing a series of interrelated poems with the working title ‘Civil Twilight’.  I find retirement and coastal living inspiriting.  I highly recommend both.
