Preparation for Careers in College Teaching
Clark University is strongly committed to the professional development of the next generation of college teachers by providing teaching assistant (TA) development workshops and courses in college teaching.
- TAs are supported and mentored in their role as facilitators of undergraduate student learning, both by faculty supervisors and through formal training. Workshops throughout the academic year, some of which are mandatory for new TAs and all of which are open to all graduate students, focus on issues relevant to teaching and learning. Graduate students are invited to the lunch series offered through Clark’s Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning.
- Clark houses the Colleges of Worcester Consortium Certificate in College Teaching program. Individual courses or the full Certificate provide both theoretical background and practical skills in college teaching. Tuition reimbursement is available for Ph.D. students and for some M.A. students.
