Resume & Cover Letter Review- Where to start?

Here are some tips to reviewing your resume and cover letters.

  1. Take a look at the Career Services How to Guides for Marketing Yourself. They include pointers and templates for developing your resume and cover letter.
  2. Tailor your resume and cover letter to the job or internship posting. Make sure that your most relevant experiences are easily seen in the top half of your resume. Write your cover letter specifically for that position, highlighting the skills and experiences you can offer.
  3. Bring your resume and cover letter to drop-in hours. Come by the ASEC building lobby any Monday through Friday between 12 and 4 p.m. to meet with a Career Services Graduate Assistant and get feedback on your materials.
  4. Visit the Writing Center. Working with a writing consultant will help you polish your resume and cover letter - from grammar, word choice, and style to coherence and overall organization.
