Connect to Learning

Created by 24 campuses in the Connect to Learning project, this site demonstrates and deepens the value of ePortfolio to higher education. It offers data, practices and strategies, showing how ePortfolio can advance learning, deepen pedagogy and assessment, and support institutional change.

AAC&U Value Rubrics

The Value Rubrics were created by diverse teams of faculty and other academic and student affairs professionals from a wide range of institutions in meetings convened by the AAC&U. These rubrics stem from several drafted and revised institutional-level rubrics (and related materials) to correspond with the AAC&U Essential Learning Outcomes. Each VALUE rubric contains the most broadly shared criteria or core characteristics considered to be critical for judging the quality of student work in a particular outcome area. Rubrics and many other helpful documents can be found at this site.

National Institute for Learning Outcomes Assessment

NILOA aims to make learning outcomes assessment usable and transparent. The primary objective of NILOA’s work is to discover and disseminate ways that academic programs and institutions can productively use assessment data internally to inform and strengthen undergraduate education, and externally to communicate with policy makers, families and other stakeholders. The site contains many resources and tools to help get started with assessment work.

National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE)

Through its student survey, The College Student Report, NSSE annually collects information at hundreds of four-year colleges and universities about student participation in programs and activities that institutions provide for their learning and personal development. The results provide an estimate of how undergraduates spend their time and what they gain from attending college. Clark participates on a regular basis in the NSSE survey which gathers information about students’ perceptions of learning at the end of their first and forth years at college.

Wabash College Center of Inquiry in the Liberal Arts

The Center of Inquiry in the Liberal Arts collaborates with institutions to gather and use evidence to strengthen liberal arts education. In addition to resources and analyses, the Center of Inquiry collaborates with faculty and staff at colleges and universities to build and strengthen the capacity of assessment programs to gather and use evidence to improve student learning.
