David McDonough
Director of Career Services / Prelaw Adviser
David joined Clark Career Services in April, 2005. He holds a B.A. in Geography and Politics and a postgraduate degree in Logic and Information Technology from universities in England and Scotland. Originally from Dublin Ireland, David moved to the United States in 1997 and has worked in Career Services at Boston University, as a consultant for experience.com and most recently as Associate Director for Career Services at Brandeis University. Other work experiences include the
Navy, Educational Administrator for the Department of Education in London and Personnel and Career Services work for colleges in Scotland. David remains active in many professional organizations including the Liberal Arts Career Network, the International Careers Consortium, National Association of Colleges and Employers and the Northeast Association of Pre-Law Advisors. He looks forward to working with students and alumni to help them succeed in a career they can feel passionate about.
Eric Saczawa
Assistant Director/Coordinator of Employer Relations
Eric has been with Clark since March 2004, after several years learning the
career services field at Smith College. He has also held positions in sales and marketing.
Eric finds it very rewarding to help students make connections and get to the "next level" in their job or internship searches. When not in the office,
he enjoys playing sports, especially volleyball and softball; is an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan;
and attends live music and theater events frequently.Vickie Cox-Lanyon
Assistant Director
Vickie majored in Psychology at Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut (another small, private, liberal arts college in an urban setting). After graduating, she worked as a case manager for adolescents with mental health issues before returning to graduate school and completing her MS in School Psychology at the University of Rhode Island. That led to a career as a school psychologist in a public school system assessing and counseling students from preschool through high school. Vickie came to Clark in 1997 and serves as an illustration of how it is possible to take your education and skills and transfer them into a new career. She now advises students on all aspects of career exploration, the job search process, and applying to graduate school. She believes that self-assessment is the key to finding a career where you can "do what you like and like what you do."!
Sharon Hanna
Assistant Director/Coordinator of Internships
Sharon joined Career Services in 1995 and advises undergraduate, graduate
students and alumni with a focus on students enrolled in the Clark Career
Exploration Program. Students contact Sharon regarding: internships, career exploration, resume/cover letter writing,
job search strategies, self-assessment and mock interviews. Sharon completed the
MSPC at Clark University and holds undergraduate degrees from
Worcester State College and Bay Path College. She is past President of Clark University's chapter of Alpha Epsilon Lambda
Honor Society. A long distance runner, she has completed six marathons. Madelyn Priestley
Office Manager
Madelyn joined Clark in July, 1981 and has worked in Career Services since June of 1986. Madelyn manages the Letters of Reference File; co-ordinates and plans the Graduate and career/internships
fairs; assists the Director with the prelaw program; supervises the staff of work-study students and the day to day operations of Career Services.
Michele Coakley
Program Assistant/Receptionist
Michele joined Career Services in 2006. She schedules appointments, publicizes
events, and provides general office and program support. She previously worked
in the Dean of Students Office on campus and as an instructional assistant in
the Worcester Public Schools. Michele looks forward to greeting you when you visit Career Services.
2007-08 Graduate Assistants
Courtney Croteau
Graduate AssistantCourtney graduated from
Clark in 2007 with a B.A. in International Development and Social Change and a
minor in International Relations. This year she is again a student in the IDCE
community, completing her M.A. in Community Development and Planning through the
Fifth Year Tuition Free program. As an undergrad Courtney was involved in the
Orientation programs for incoming students as well as served as a student member
on the Board of Trustees. She studied abroad in Namibia during her junior year
and hopes her interest in the urban planning field will lead her to future
international opportunities. At Career Services she provides resources to
students and reviews resumes to assist them in reaching their goals.
Jane Kaplan
Graduate Assistant
Jane graduated in May 2007 from Clark with a Bachelor's degree in
Management. Currently, she is enrolled in Clark's Fifth Year Tuition Free
Program, and will earn a Masters in Business Administration with a concentration
in Marketing. As an undergraduate, Jane was a Resident Advisor, a member of the
University Center Advisory Board (UCAB) and an officer of Initial Advantage.
Through work and volunteer experience, she hopes to obtain a job in either
marketing or the emerging field of Corporate Social Responsibility. As a
Graduate Assistant, Jane looks forward to reviewing student resumes and
answering questions about the job and internship processes. Bethany Williard
Graduate Assistant
Bethany graduated from Clark University in 2007 with a Bachelor's degree in
American Government and International Relations with a concentration in Law and
Society. Currently she is enrolled in the Fifth Year Tuition Free program
earning a Masters of Public Administration. After several years of student
involvement in Student Council, Residence Life, campus committees and
volunteering, Bethany is now a graduate assistant at Career Services. Her future
plans include law school in the upcoming years, while keeping career options
open for consideration. From Pre-Law projects to critiquing student resumes, she
is eager to share her experience and stories with undergraduates.
