Employer Responsibilities for an
Academic Internship

Employer Eligibility

To be eligible for academic credit, an internship must meet all of the following criteria:

  • The location must be in a business-zoned area.
  • Include a minimum of 180 hours completed over a semester or summer (averaging about 13 per week).
  • Include progressively responsible tasks, no more than 25% clerical in nature.
  • Provide supervision from an industry professional who is accessible and on-site a majority of the hours.

Internship Confirmation

You will need to respond to an email confirming that you have hired the student as an intern in order for the student to apply for academic credit at Clark.


Career Development will contact you via e-mail twice during the semester and provide you with an evaluation form that is required in order for your student to receive credit.
