Career CounselingA Guide to Exploring Majors | Why Liberal Arts? | Career Counseling | Self Assessment
Individual Career Coaching/Advising
Career counselors meet with students to discuss all aspects of career planning - from choosing
a major to identifying interests, values, and skills, obtaining an internship, researching
careers, and conducting a job search. For those at the beginning stages, an individual
appointment with a counselor can help you narrow down your options and develop an action plan
for exploring a career field. If you have already decided on a given career path, a counselor
can help you research a company, refine your resume, and prepare for an interview.
Interest Inventories
Career Services administers (free of charge) the Strong Interest Inventory to assess your
interests in a variety of areas and suggest career fields and job titles for you to
consider. Students should contact the office for an appointment to access this
online instrument.
Once completed, the results will be emailed to a career
counselor who will contact you to schedule a time to review and discuss them. Other informal self-assessment
tools are also available
through one of the Career Services advisers.
Career Services Library
The Career Services Library is open between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday.
Drop by anytime to take a look at the resources available.

Informational Interviews with Alumni
Alumni can be a great source of first-hand information on a particular career field. Career
Services can help students locate alumni around the globe who will discuss their
occupation, explain effective job search tools and techniques and even give advice on relocation.
Current Seniors and Juniors can access the
Alumni On-Line Directory directly and use it to further their career research and networking
efforts. Scroll down to where it says First Time Visitors Register Now to

Career Panels
Career Panels, panel discussions on various career topics, are held throughout the year.
The panels are comprised of established professionals, typically alumni, who give an informal
presentation then open the discussion to all attendees.
Check our
Calendar of Events for information on this semester's panels.
