What is Skype for Business (a.k.a. Lync)?

Skype for Business (formerly known as Lync) is a messaging system that allows you to have instant messaging (IM), audio and video conversations and/or meetings. Each of the following how-to videos help you get up to speed with key Skype for Business (Lync) tasks in about one minute.

Need to get Skype for Business (Lync)?

If you want to install Skype for Bysiness (Lync) on your computer, login at https://portal.office.com/OLS/MySoftware.aspx.  Or you may contact the ITS Help Desk and they can help you install it. 

How do you schedule Skype for Business online meetings?

There is a video below that shows how to do this with Outlook.  Or if you don’t use Outlook, you can login at https://portal.office.com/OLS/MySoftware.aspx and schedule a Skype for Bysiness meeting from there.  Once you’ve scheduled your meeting you can send the invitation to participants via a meeting request or cut and past the Lync meeting URL into an email.  Participants do not have to be members of the Clark University community to join a Clark meeting. 

Can you join a Skype for Business (Lync) meeting if you don’t have it installed?

You don’t have to have Skype for Business (Lync) installed to join a Lync meeting.  There’s an app for that!  Information about how to join a Skype for Business (Lync) meeting with just the Web app is available at this page
