Previous Henry J. Leir Conferences in Luxembourg

This selection of conference/workshop titles beginning in the 1990's, indicates the scope of topics explored in past Luxembourg conferences. At times, publications emerged from these conferences/workshops and we have listed those accordingly.

LLP-CU also provides the Clark Professor in charge with funds to award The Henry J. Leir Student Conference Participation Award. The Clark professor makes the decision if and which student to take to the conference.

Through its formal and informal cooperative agreements with Luxembourg institutions, the Leir Luxembourg Program-Clark University has found Luxembourg partners who have helped with jointly sponsored conferences. Some of our partner institutions have been: Université du Luxembourg, The Bibliothèque Nationale de Luxembourg, The Cinémathèque Municipale de Luxembourg, The Thomas-Mann-Bibliothek, The Centre for Population Studies (CEPS), and CSSE at the Hotel am Klouschter in Mondorf-les-Bains .

The following conferences were conducted during the year 2007:

• July 13 to 16, 2007: : Psychology - State of the Art (Psychology) Professor Michael Bamberg. The Henry J. Leir Student Conference Participation Award was awarded to Martin Dege (Psychology). Picture of conference participants.

• August 4 to 7, 2006: Freedom and Bondage in the Atlantic World (English) - Professor SunHee Kim Gertz.

• June 16 to 19, 2006: Evolution and Development (Psychology) - Professor Nick Thompson. The Henry J. Leir Student Conference Participation Award was awarded to Emily Lescak (Psychology).

• May 8 to 9, 2006: The European Constitution: A Re-examination (Philosophy) - Professor Gary Overvold.
