Immigration Sessions

The ISSO offers sessions covering important immigration topics throughout the year. In addition to Orientation sessions, other sessions include may OPT, other employment authorizations, taxes and additional special topics.

All students interesting in applying for Optional Practical Training (OPT) after graduation are required to attend an OPT workshop.  We offer OPT workshops each month throughout the academic year.  Spring 2017, OPT workshops will take place as follows:

Monday, January 30 at 6:00 PM Grace Conference Room in the UC)

Wednesday, February 15 at 12:00 PM (Lurie Conference Room in the UC)

Thursday, March 2 at 3:00 PM (Grace Conference Room in the UC)
Sunday, March 19 at 2:00 PM (Lurie Conference Room in the UC)

Tuesday, April 11 at 1:30 PM (Grace Conference Room in the UC)


After attending a session, students will be able to apply for OPT through the ISSO's OPT application process. OPT applications are approved by the US government. The average processing time is 2.5 months.

February 22 at 2:30 PM - Income Tax Basics with Colleen Callahan-Panday, Associate Director of WPI's International House; (Grace Conference Room in the UC)

March 29 at 2:30 PM - How to avoid becoming a victim of scams and fraud; (Grace Conference Room in the UC)

April 26 at 2:30 PM - STEM OPT Extension; (Jefferson 218)
