4/8/2014 — New Director of Athletics and Recreation

Dear Members of the Clark Community,

I am pleased to announce that Trish Cronin has been appointed the new Director of Athletics and Recreation at Clark University. I'm delighted that Trish will have the opportunity to expand on the great strides she has made with the department since she was named Interim Director this past September.

Trish's appointment concludes a highly competitive national search. As part of this process, we considered numerous exceptional candidates; however, Trish's insights into the opportunities and strategies for strengthening Clark athletics, her commitment to student achievement, and her success in working effectively with campus and outside groups stood out above the rest. I sincerely appreciate all the work of the search committee members and wish to thank everyone who contributed to the selection process by meeting with the candidates and providing feedback.

The primary objectives that Trish will focus on in this new role are enhancing athletic excellence, integrating the Athletics Department on campus and within LEEP, engaging faculty, cultivating relationships with alumni, and fundraising. She will be working to foster relationships both internally and externally that are enthusiastic, engaged, and supportive of Clark athletics.

Trish joined Clark in the fall of 2010 and has worked in several capacities at the University over the past few years: as Fitness Center Director, Assistant Athletic Trainer, Senior Women's Administrator, and, most recently, as Assistant Athletics Director. She played an integral role with the expansion of the Bickman Fitness Center in the summer of 2013. Prior to her arrival at Clark, she served as the Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine at Division II Dowling College in Oakdale, N.Y.

Trish is a certified athletic trainer and a member of both the National Athletic Trainer's Association and the National Association of Collegiate Women Athletics Administrators. She is a 1989 graduate of Kentucky State University with a degree in biology and graduated magna cum laude from Dowling College with a master's in education in 2009.

I am grateful for Trish's hard work in stewarding the Athletics and Recreation Department over the past six months. We have made much progress as a community under her guidance, and I am confident that through her leadership, we will embrace this opportunity to take athletics at Clark University to heightened levels of excellence.

Please join me in congratulating Trish on this important leadership appointment.
