Mondestin of Worcester joins Local Committee and Board of Directors

Paul MondestinWORCESTER, MA -- Paul E. Mondestin, associate director of The Clark Fund at Clark University, was recently appointed to the City of Worcester’s Community Development Advisory Committee and became a board member for the Martin Luther King, Jr. Business Empowerment Center.

Mondestin’s appointment to the Community Development Advisory Committee was confirmed on July 19. He will serve in this role until June 30, 2008. This committee screens all applicants for funds from the Community Development Block Grant program and cooperates with the Office of Planning and Community Development in setting funding priorities. It also makes recommendations to the City Manager regarding agencies and programs to be funded annually.

Mondestin volunteered to serve on the Board of Directors for the MLK, Jr. Business Empowerment Center and was officially voted onto the board on June 28. He will help further the mission of the organization, which is to help provide a better quality of life in the minority community through business development and culturally focused pre-employment training.

Mondestin received his Bachelor of Arts in International Relations and Philosophy from Clark in 1998. He joined Clark as associate director of the Clark Fund and coordinator of parent relations in August of 2004. Prior to that, he served as market director and Walk team leader for the Greater New York City Office of the American Diabetes Association. He also served in development roles at the United Way of New York City and the Muscular Dystrophy Association and was a legislative assistant for Sen. Edward M. Kennedy.

Mondestin is a resident of Worcester.
