The University of East Anglia
The University of East Anglia is changing from the traditional (three) 10-week term system to the semester system. This change has been successfully implemented only at their School of English and American Studies (EAS). Otherwise students should attend UEA for the entire year or the spring semester only.
Students specializing in the arts and social sciences usually take three courses per semester; those in the sciences might have to take a slightly heavier course load.
This is a program specifically geared toward English majors, however, UEA is also very strong in Environmental Science and Art History. Clark's English Department has an exchange agreement with EAS.
Generally, the UEA program gives preference to Clark students taking at least 50% of their courses in the School of English and American Studies (English and American Literature, Creative Writing, Linguistics, Film Studies, etc.).
UEA has an excellent reputation in the following areas of study:
- the English program; Famous professors and professionals have made English courses extremely popular at UEA. Places in the creative writing program, however, are severely limited in number.
- environmental sciences; UEA's Climatic Research Centre is one of the leading institutions investigating global warming.
- art history; UEA is one of the top places in Great Britain for art history. The Sainsbury Centre for the Visual Arts is considered to be one of the greatest resources of its kind at any British university.
Additional key strengths at UEA include: development studies, accountancy, law, and computing. On-campus accommodations are guaranteed.
