NAMIBIA/Southern Africa
Nation-Building, Globalization and Decolonizing the Mind (Spring or Fall Semester)
This semester program is offered during the spring or fall semester.
Our program in Namibia, administered by Augsburg College, offers an opportunity to take courses and be involved in a short internship placement in Africa.
The program starts with an orientation in the city of Windhoek. Four Clark units will be granted upon successful completion of the entire program.
For about two-and-a-half weeks students will live with Namibian families and the accommodations during this time will be quite scarce (no electricity, no running water). Students must be self-motivated and flexible to adapt to a very different standard of living during their home stay in the rural area.
Students have the opportunity to take the following courses in the fall or spring:
- The Development Process--Southern Africa
- Church and Social Change in Southern Africa
- Political and Social Change in Southern Africa
- Racism and Resistance in Southern Africa and the US and/or
- Internship
The language of instruction is English.
Students can also apply to participate in a short internship placement in Windhoek.
