CU Applied Science and Technology Index
 

It is a bibliographic database that indexes articles in Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Engineering, Environmental Studies, Physics, Geology, Applied Mathematics, Artificial Intelligence, Atmospheric Sciences and other general science subjects. English-language periodicals published in the United States and elsewhere are covered; non-English language articles are also included if English abstracts are provided.

 

Bioethics Databases from Georgetown
 

Indexes articles from journals received by Georgetown plus selected additional sources. 'Genetics and Ethics', a subset of the complete Georgetown collection, indexes articles, books, and audiovisual materials.

 

CU Biological Sciences Database

A comprehensive database covering the literature of the biological science, it includes more than 20 subfiles such as Animal Behavior Abstracts, Entomology Abstracts, Nucleic Acids Abstracts, etc. You may search selected subfiles seperately or all together. Most subfiles cover 1982 forward, but the Biological Sciences and Living Resources subfile goes back to 1971.

 

BioMed Central - Open Access Publisher
 

BioMed Central is an independent publishing house committed to providing free and immediate access to original research articles in biomedical area. All research articles published by BioMed Central are archived in PubMed Central, and are also included in PubMed. Since Clark has joined BioMed Central's Institutional Membership, researchers in Clark have the right to publish an unlimited number of research articles in journals published by BioMed Central without paying any article processing charges.

Cancer Literature in PubMed
 

Provided by the National Cancer Institute, this PubMed's cancer subset allows you to seach all cancer-related citations and abstracts of journal articles, meeting papers, research reports, all aspects of experimental and clinical cancer therapy, chemical, viral, and other agents that cause cancer, and the biochemistry, immunology, physiology of cancer.

 

ChemBank

 

ChemBank is a freely available collection of data about small molecules and resources for studying their properties, especially their effects on biology. ChemBank is being actively developed by the informatics group at the ICCB and Broad Institute Chemical Biology Program, sponsored by the National Cancer Institute's Initiative for Chemical Genetics (ICG).

 

ChemFinder
 

ChemFinder.Com is a portal of both free and subscription scientific databases. It gathers information on properties of chemical compounds. The user can search the free edition of database with compound name or structure. This is another useful tool for students who are working on laboratory exercises. The professional's version of ChemFinder called ChemINDEX, does require a subscription, though.

 

Chemical Kinetics Database - from NIST
 

The NIST Chemical Kinetics Database includes essentially all reported kinetics results for thermal gas-phase chemical reactions. The database is designed to be searched for kinetics data based on the specific reactants involved, for reactions resulting in specified products, for all the reactions of a particular species, or for various combinations of these. In addition, the bibliography can be searched by author name or combination of names. The database contains in excess of 38,000 separate reaction records for over 11,700 distinct reactant pairs. These data have been abstracted from over 12,000 papers with literature coverage through early 2000.

 

CHEMnetBASE
 

This free search engine provides access to a wealth of chemical information from Chapman & Hall/CRC. Searching each Chemnetbase product is free: you can browse, perform searches and view search hit lists. However, viewing or printing the full product entries requires a current subscription.

Digital Book Index
 

Digital Book Index provides links to more than 90,000 title records from more than 1800 commercial and non-commercial publishers, universities, and various private sites. About 52,000 of these books, texts, and documents are available free, while many others are available at very modest cost. It covers most major disciplines—literature, history, science and the history of science, social sciences, medicine, etc. A reference section includes dictionaries, encyclopedias, thesauri, glossaries, bibliographies, and etc.

Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ)
 

"The aim of the Directory of Open Access Journals is to increase the visibility and ease of use of open access scientific and scholarly journals thereby promoting their increased usage and impact. In short, it intends to offer a one stop shop for users to Open Access Journals.
All subject areas and languages will be covered." It allows uset to do keywords searching for the names of the e-journals included within the Directory. Each journal provides full-text access to its articles.

 

CU Dissertation Abstracts Online (Dissertations)
 

It contains more than 1.5 million listings for doctoral dissertations and master’s thesesfrom institutions in the North America and Europe. Dates covered: 1861 to present, abstracts since 1980, and thesis abstracts since 1988 .

DOE Information Bridge - an open source to DOE's Scientific & Technical Inofmration
 

The Information Bridge provides the open source to full-text and bibliographic records of Department of Energy (DOE) research and development reports in physics, chemistry, materials, biology, environmental sciences, energy technologies, engineering, computer and information science, renewable energy, and other topics. It consists of full-text documents produced and made available by the Department of Energy National Laboratories and grantees from 1995 forward.

 

Energy Citations Database - (1948 – Present)
 

The Energy Citations Database (ECD) is designed and developed by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Scientific and Technical Information (OSTI). It is publicly available without charge to users. It includes bibliographic records of literature in disciplines of interest to DOE such as chemistry, physics, materials, environmental science, geology, engineering, mathematics, climatology, oceanography, computer science and related disciplines. It includes citations to report literature, conference papers, journal articles, books, dissertations, and patents.

CU Environmental Sciences and Pollution Management
 

This database can be used to search Environmental literature. It covers subjects in general science and life sciences. It includes many subfiles such as Bacteriology Abstracts (Microbiology B), Ecology Abstracts, Toxicology Abstracts which may be searched individually, or collectively. Most subfiles are updated monthly.

 

E-print Network - Energy, science and technology for the research community

A general interest database, references and/or full text of scholarly and general-interest material, taken from newspapers, periodicals, encyclopedias, and other reference materials.

General science literature from the U.S. and Great Britain, this database contains bibliographic citations with abstracts in the physical and biological sciences, medicine and health.

 

CU GPO Monthly Catalog - FirstSearch version
 

It is the most comprehensive finding aid for U.S. government publications. A catalog of and index to U.S. government publications received by the Government Printing Office (GPO). An electronic version for 1976 to date of The Monthly Catalog of United States Government Publications. It covers all types of U.S. government documents, including Congressional reports, hearings, debates, and records; judiciary materials; and documents issued by executive departments. a bibliographic citation is included in each record.

GPO (Government Printing Office) Access
 

Free online U.S. government information from the Government Printing Office, it provides search and retrieval of full text from over 50 online databases as well as tools and finding aids for other government information, including legislative and regulatory material, as well as publications of all three branches of the U.S. government.

CU Health Reference Center - Academic - FULLTEXT
 

This database offers information from over forty full-text nursing and allied health journals as well as many other publications. It provides access to a wide range variety of health information resources, including the full-text of many documents, periodical articles and book excerpts.Use this database to find articles on: Fitness, Pregnancy, Medicine, Nutrition, Diseases, Public Health, Occupational Health and Safety, Alcohol and Drug abuse, HMOs, Prescription Drugs, etc. Dates covered: 1980 - present. INGENTA (previously UnCover)
 

Index and table of contents to over 17,000 journals. You can either browse the resources by subject area or search the database by topic and find a list of article citations and browse tables-of-contents of journals. Ingenta offers users the opportunity to order copies of articles via fax, download, or email with a fee.

 

International Critical Tables of Numerical Data, Physics, Chemistry and Technology (1st Electronic Edition)
 

This classic and well-known reference was originally published for the National Research Council in 7 volumes. It contains an enormous amount of critical data on inorganic and organic compounds, and pure substances. The original 1000-page index is hyperlinked to each entry's appropriate page.

MatWeb
 

MatWeb is the free materials information database with property data on about 19000 materials including thermoplastic and thermoset polymers such as ABS, nylon, polycarbonate, polyester, and polyolefins; metals such as aluminum, cobalt, etc

MEDLINE (alternate title for PubMed)
 

From the National Library of Medicine, PubMed is the free, online version of MEDLINE (and PREMEDLINE). It indexes over 4,600 journals world-wide including clinical and experimental medicine, basic sciences as related to biochemistry, medicine, psychiatry, public health and veterinary medicine; indexes ; It includes abstracts; 1950s - present.

 

MedlinePlus
 

MedlinePlus has extensive information from the National Institutes of Health and other trusted sources on over 650 diseases and conditions. There are also lists of hospitals and physicians, a medical encyclopedia and a medical dictionary, health information in Spanish, extensive information on prescription and nonprescription drugs, health information from the media, and links to thousands of clinical trials.

Spectral Data Base System for Organic Compounds (SDBS)
 

SDBS is an integrated spectral database system for organic compounds, which includes 6 different types of spectra under a directory database of the compounds. The spectra are EI mass, 1H decoupled 13C NMR, 1H NMR pattern (90 and/or 400 MHz), 1H NMR parameter (300 MHz pattern generated), FT-IR, laser-Raman, and ESR. This site is available in both English and Japanese.

 

SIS Chemical Information Page
 

Maintained by the Division of Specialized Information Services (SIS) of the National Library of Medicine (NLM), this portal page contains a great deal of information about chemical substances. It includes: ChemIDplus, a free web searchable database of 350,000 chemical records, including over 120,000 with 2D and 3D Structures

U.S. Patent and Trademark Databases
 

All patent images from 1976 forward are available in text as well as TIFF image format in the patent search systems. All trademark images are accompanied by descriptions and design search codes which indicate types of images included in a mark on the trademark search systems.

It offers a fundamental reference source covering broad subject areas such as computers, environment, science and technology, taxes, facts, vital statistics, and many more.

CU WorldCat
 

OCLC catalog of books and other materials in libraries worldwide. This includes books, manuscripts, websites and internet resources, maps, computer programs, musical scores,
films and slides, newspapers, journals and magazines, sound recordings, articles, chapters, papers, videotapes. However, unlike other article databases, WorldCat includes very few articles, chapters or papers. These are not covering a journal or subject; only a few in analytics cataloged by libraries are included.

X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy Database -from NIST
 

Currently it is free. The NIST X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS) Database gives easy access to the energies of many photoelectron and Auger-electron spectral lines. It contains over 22,000 line positions, chemical shifts, doublet splittings, and energy separations of photoelectron and Auger-electron lines. It allows users to search by element, line type, line energy, and many other variables.
