Q. What is the ACE Summer Institute?

A. ACE stands for Academic Clark Excellence. Clark students who attend the ACE Summer Institute are expected to strive for excellence in all they do and learn the skills to do so.

Q. Who is eligible for the program?

A. You must be a first-generation college student or an ALANA student. A first-generation college student is the first person in his/her family to attend a four-year college or university, and an ALANA student is a person who is African American, Latino, Asian, or Native American.

Q. What will I do in the program?

A. The ACE Summer Institute is a great way to get to know the campus and prepare for your first year of college. You'll complete an intensive overview course in math, develop your writing techniques and develop connections with your peers, faculty, and staff.

Q. Will this be a fun experience for me?

A. Yes. Activities on evenings and weekends will help you get to know the Worcester community and there is time to relax with your new friends.

Q. When does the program start?

A. Two weeks prior to orientation.

Q. How do I apply?

A. Eligible students are invited to apply. If you've been invited to the ACE Summer Institute, please print the application, complete it and mail it to the Academic Advancement Office, Clark University, 950 Main St., Worcester, MA 01610. If you have questions or need an application mailed to you, please call 508-421-3722.

Q. How much does the program cost?

A. The ACE Summer Institute is free, including room, board, books and other academic materials. If accepted, you will be required to fully participate in the classes and activities.

Q. Will I have a roommate?

A. Yes. We will match you with a student who has similar interests.

Q. Where will we live?

A. In one of the first-year residence halls.
