Comments on "Spirit Takes Form:"  It was very interesting both visually and conceptually.  Conceptually, the three objects are fascinating together. I really liked that the three different objects conveyed the same theme of spiritual transformation even though they were very different visually.  The viewer’s attention is drawn to the form of the images and their significance (large head= ase; praying mantis form= head hunting), and also to the conceptual connections of the works. This was accomplished by explaining the importance of the physical form of the objects, and the spiritual importance each depicts artistically. The title as well as the links and labels also accomplished these connections. Both links and labels contributed to knowledge of the objects and their cultures. My only suggestion is to include context photos in the links.  The intro statement was well developed in the labels by the elaboration of the connection between human, animal, and spirit form.  The information  could have been referenced a bit better, though. The pictures were well cited, but the labels were not; nor was the ase link. (LD)
I started by looking again at "Spirits Take Form," my part of the exhibit, and I realized that I didn’t pay any attention to the aesthetic qualities of the art pieces that I selected. Instead, I focused mainly on the functions and especially meaning of the pieces. I found this very interesting seeing as at the beginning of the semester, I looked at art as only for aesthetic and viewing purposes.   I think I trained myself well in terms of seeing more to the art, but in the process I neglected to mention the pieces in terms of their aesthetics or with regard to their respective artistic canons. In this respect, I think my label copy could have been improved. After all, I believe my images worked well together, visually and conceptually, and I believe my title was developed adequately. (DE)
"Spirits Take Form:"  The objects chosen were good; the introduction could have been a bit longer. The concept overall was good. Labels and links were useful. There was not much connection made between the objects chosen. All sources were cited, correctly. (JS)
"Spirits Take Form" featured three small containers. The images were extremely interesting to consider visually, as each were shown in the same context: a museum setting. The containers were also interesting to consider conceptually.   Containers represented a bridge between animal and spirit worlds in all three cultures through the animistic qualities of each container. The title captured the theme of the exhibit, and this theme was echoed in the introductory statement and in each label. The labels also explained the symbolism of each object; however, they lack sufficient explanation of use and function. The links in each label were brief and concise, contributing to the viewer's understanding. The exhibit is interesting, informative, and neatly presented. (CS)
