Supply Chain Management: An International Journal, Forthcoming.

With more and stricter environmental regulations and increasingly competitive business environment, greening a supply chain has become an emergent strategy for organizations and supply chains overall.  This paper develops a holistic supplier management three phased process model using portfolio analysis to evaluate the environmental aspects of a supply chain. A traditional portfolio analysis of suppliers possesses some deficiencies in the measurement steps for factor weightings of the portfolio dimensions.  These weights are often briefly and generally assigned. This paper applies the analytical network hierarchy (ANP) to address this deficiency in factors evaluation across the portfolio dimensions. A case illustration is used to demonstrate the proposed model. The article concludes with a discussion on managerial implications and puts forward some directions for further research.
