Professor Delehanty's primary research focus in the construction and deployment of moral meaning in political organizations and social movements. He is currently studying progressive religious activism, with the goal of understanding how solidarity and collective action emerge across race and class difference in contemporary politics. A second project investigates how conservative Christian discourse contributes to Americans' understandings of national identity and belonging. His research has been published in the American Journal of Cultural Sociology, Social Forces, Sociology of Religion, and The Sociological Quarterly.
